AMD Radeon RX 8800 XT TBP Leaks Out: Max Power of only 220W with 8-pin x2 Connectors?

We’ve been hearing a fair bit about AMD’s upcoming RDNA 4 graphics cards lately. According to a variety of rumors, the RX 8800 XT will be up to 30% faster than its predecessor, with vastly improved ray-tracing performance and slimmed-down power consumption. Till now, we were expecting a similar TBP range as the RX 7800 XT, somewhere close to 260W. Power supply manufacturer Seasonic, however, claims that the RDNA 4 flagship will top out at just 220W.

The Seasonic Wattage Calculator indicates a TDP of 220W for the Radeon RX 8800 XT via 2x 8-pin power connectors. Of course, the GPU has now been removed from the options, but ElChapuzasInformatico snapped a picture as proof. A total board power of 220W points to a highly power-efficient graphics architecture, 40W less than the 7800 XT and about as much as the GeForce RTX 4070 Super.

There’s a chance this is merely a placeholder, but that wouldn’t explain why it was removed so soon after being reported. In other related news, the Radeon RX 8800 and RX 8600 series were confirmed in AMD’s open-source ROCm driver repository. These GPUs are expected to leverage the gfx1200 and gfx1201 graphics devices, respectively.
