AMD is allegedly preparing two variants of the Radeon RX 9060 XT for a Computex launch in June. According to a report from BenchLife, Team Red plans to simultaneously launch 8 and 16 GB variants of the RX 9060 XT next month. Previously, it was rumored that the 8 GB had been canceled due to increasing VRAM requirements at 1080p.
Following the release of the RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB, AMD may have decided to include the SKU in its lineup at a reduced price. At the very least, the RX 9060 XT may be introduced in the AIB and SI segments or as a rebranded SKU in the Asian markets. Either way, it will be launched under the radar with no official press sampling, like the RTX 5060 Ti.
AMD RX 9060 XT/NVIDIA RTX 5060: Is 8 GB Enough?
Is 8 GB VRAM sufficient for 1080p gaming in 2025? Well, it’s a hit or a miss. There are plenty of recent releases that use over 10 GB of graphics memory:

- The Last of Us 2 uses 11-12 GB of VRAM at 1080p.
- Assassin’s Creed: Shadows over 10 GB at 1080p.
- Split Fiction uses 6-7 GB at 1080p.
- Oblivion Remastered uses over 8 GB at 1080p.
- Expedition 33 uses up to 5 GB VRAM at 1080p.
Three out of the five recent releases require more than 8 GB of VRAM at 1080p. Even if these games run stutter-free on 8 GB GPUs, it may lead to incomplete loading of assets, pop-ups, or other related issues.
AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 8 GB: Why it Matters?
The 60-class GPUs are the bread and butter of the graphics card industry. They make up the bulk of the market share in the desktop and notebook segments. Over most of the last half decade, NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4060, 3060, 4060 Ti, 3060 Ti, and their mobility variants have dominated the market.

The RX 6600 is the most popular Radeon dGPU on the Steam charts, but it has failed to challenge the RTX 3060 and its siblings. During the Polaris days, the RX 580 was the de facto budget champ, often beating the GTX 1060 with a better value.
AMD failed to offer a worthy rival to the RTX 3060 or 4060, but that may change with the RX 9060 XT 16 GB. Even if the 8 GB variant is priced low enough, it may deter the RTX 5060 8 GB, forcing NVIDIA to prioritize and better price the 16 GB SKU.
