AMD’s Ryzen 8000 processors are slated to land in the coming weeks, marking the launch of the first AM5 APUs. Leveraging the Zen 4 CPU and an RDNA 3-based iGPU, these chips will make APU gaming on desktops more feasible. The Ryzen 7 8700G will feature 8 cores and 16 threads clocked at nearly 5GHz under load. The clocks and the L3 cache will be the primary distinguishing factors between the Ryzen 8000 APUs and 7000 CPUs. The former consists of 16MB of L3 cache per CCD and 32MB on the latter.
The Ryzen 8000 APUs will be derived from Phoenix 1 and Phoenix 2 dies. The latest stepping is the same that powers the Ryzen 8040 (Hawk Point) processors. Coming to the prices, the pre-release numbers are usually higher than the SEPs. However, some of the leaked figures seem plausible.
