The first AM5 APU lineup is inbound as the Ryzen 8000G lineup, featuring up to 8x Zen 4 cores and 12x RDNA 3 CUs. The specs sheet and the projected performance have leaked out (via Sakhtafzar), and we’re here to judge. The Ryzen 8000 processors will feature 14 SKUs, including six GE series 35W models. The lineup will consist of chips based on Phoenix 1 and Phoenix 2, the latter mainly for the lower-end and entry-level segments.
The Ryzen 8000 processors will leverage the RDNA 3 integrated graphics architecture, with up to 14 Compute Units or 896 shaders. The Phoenix 2 variants form the Ryzen 3 and Ryzen 5 offerings with up to 6 cores and 4 CUs on the iGPU. These dies likely leverage a hybrid core architecture with up to two Zen 4 and four Zen 4c cores. Meanwhile, the Phoenix 1 dies pack eight full-fledged Zen 4 cores and a meaty iGPU.
The gaming benchmarks (iGPU) provided by the outlet are ambiguous, showing the peak percentage gain going from the Ryzen 7 5700G to the 8700G. We see an average uplift of 200% to 225% in gaming performance and a maximum uplift of 300% in Cyberpunk 2077 and Doom Eternal.
Synthetic workloads show a similar uptick, with 3DMark TimeSpy and FireStrike taking the crown with a 260% generation upgrade over existing 5000 series chips.
