AMD Ryzen 9000 Motherboards: 3x PCIe Gen 5 M.2 Slots, WiFi 7 & 2x USB4 3800 MB/s Ports

AMD’s Ryzen 9000 processors are a few months away from launch, but board partners are already ready with their respective motherboard solutions. The Gigabyte B650E Aorus Pro X USB4 is one such platform. Although it uses the B650E chipset, it’s designed for the next-gen Granite Ridge CPUs. Expect future X870 motherboards to sport similar specifications. The below info and images come from Benchlife who have already received a sample.

The B650E Aorus Pro X USB4 leverages Infineon’s PMIC, supplying 80A of current per phase SPS (Smart Power Stage) IC, Vcores, SoC, and MISC. Overall, there are 16+2+2 phases with the Digital Twin VRM design, a step up from the usual DrMos stages.

On the storage side, it features four M.2 slots, including one PCIe Gen 4 x4 and three PCIe Gen 5 x4 slots. All these come with the M.2 EZ-Latch plus mechanism that doesn’t require screws, making the process of replacing SSDs easier. The PCIe Gen 5 x16 slot meant for graphics cards featuring the PCIe UD Slot X design capable of withstanding up to 58 kg of weight.

The Gigabyte B650E Aorus Pro X USB4 uses a MediaTek WiFi 7 adapter, the MT7927. It comes with the WiFi EZ plug, a quick-release mechanism similar to the M.2, and PCIe slots. Speaking of I/O, this board incorporates 2x USB4 Type-C ports capable of sequential transfer rates of up to 3,800 MB/s. These ports use the ASMedia ASM4242 chip which is certified for USB-IF.
