The first benchmarks of AMD’s Strix Halo mobile processor have leaked out. The 3DMark TimeSpy score (courtesy of @All_The_Watts), highlights the potency of its integrated Radeon 8060 graphics. Featuring 40 Compute Units (CUs) or 2,560 shaders based on the RDNA 3.5 architecture, the iGPU scores an incredible 12,516 points in the TimeSpy benchmark.
This leaked 3DMark TimeSpy score places the Radeon 8060 on par with the GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU, and up to 20% ahead of the RTX 4060 mobile. Compared to the Radeon RX 7700S, we’re looking at 15-20% uplift despite being an integrated solution.
Of course, synthetic numbers don’t always correlate to real-world gaming performance, but it’s a good preliminary estimate. AMD has been struggling to break into the mobility dGPU market for several years, and this could be seen as a move to bypass NVIDIA’s monopoly with OEMs and ODMs. Unlike Radeon, the Ryzen mobility processors have garnered ample success in recent years.
Including a separate graphics die (GCD) onpackge eliminates the need for discrete graphics on high-end and upper midrange notebooks. Nonetheless, we might still see devices with a high-end dGPU, like the RTX 5090 mobile in some SKUs. Either way, this is a console-grade machine with similar specs as the PS5 Pro.
In related news, the TimeSpy score of the Radeon RX 9070 XT has surfaced, placing it next to the RX 7900 XT (+17% faster), but slower than the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super and the RTX 4080 16 GB. Previously, it was rumored that the RX 8800 XT (now RX 9070 XT) would rival the RTX 4080 at half the price. Looks like Radeon isn’t changing much next cycle either.
