AMD is expected to launch its FSR 3.0 upscaling technology at GDC later this month. Based on what the chipmaker calls “Fluid Motion Frames”, we’re looking at a form of advanced frame reconstruction technology. While FSR 2 (and DLSS 2) merely upscale an image with the help of temporal frame data, their successors add an entire second frame, tripling the output performance.
NVIDIA uses its optical flow processor to calculate the motion flow of various polygons/pixels, which backs up the second frame reconstruction. We expect AMD’s Fluid Motion Frames to do something similar, perhaps while leveraging the repurposed vector unit for acceleration.
What’s important to note is that AMD has yet to release a single game supporting FSR 3, and NVIDIA already has nearly 50 titles with DLSS 3 support on the market. Furthermore, many of these are among the most-played games on Steam. The list of games with DLSS 3 support is as follows:
- A Plague Tale: Requiem
- Atomic Heart
- Black Myth: Wukong (Soon)
- Bright Memory: Infinite
- Chernobylite
- Conqueror’s Blade
- Cyberpunk 2077

AMD has confirmed FSR 2 support for 117 games at the time of writing. NVIDIA DLSS 2 has already been added to over 200 titles. We expect the third-gen upscalers to follow a similar trend, with DLSS leading by a huge margin.
