Forza Motorsport is out on PC and Xbox Series consoles, and we have got the benchmarks of the latest GeForce RTX and Radeon RX graphics cards right here. We’ll test the game at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K using the “Ultra” Quality preset, with and without ray-tracing to decide our winners. All the GPUs were tested on the same system for an apples-to-apples comparison.
Latest: NVIDIA RTX 4090 Averages just 39 FPS in Lords of the Fallen, 34 FPS on the AMD RX 7900 XTX
Test Bench
- CPU: Intel Core i9-13900KF.
- Memory: 16GB x2 DDR5 6000MT/s 37 CL.
- Motherboard: Asus Z790 Maximus Hero.
- PSU: RM1000E Gold
1080p, 1440p, and 4K Benchmarks
We tested our GPUs at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K using the Ultra Quality preset with and without ray-tracing, and got the following results:
Nearly all GPUs perform well here with an average of over 100 FPS and lows exceeding 60 FPS. The GeForce RTX 4090 is faster than the RX 7900 XTX, while the RTX 4070 edges past the RX 7900 XT at 1080p only to fall behind at 1440p. The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is faster than the RX 7700 XT at 1080p but slower at 1440p. It’s worth noting that the RX 7700 XT produces a very shaky frametime graph. Interestingly, it smoothens out when ray-tracing is switched on.
In terms of smoothness, the RX 7900 XTX leads the pack, followed by the RTX 4090 and the RTX 4070. The RX 7900 XT comes in third and the RTX 4060 Ti fourth. There’s clearly something wrong with the RX 7700 XT figures so we won’t talk about it.
The standings don’t change at 1440p. The only difference is that the RX 7900 XT is faster and smoother than the RTX 4070.
At 4K, the GeForce RTX 4090 routs the competition, leading the RX 7900 series cards by a hefty margin.
The frametime graph reveals that the RX 7900 XTX still offers the smoothest experience. The RX 7900 XT starts to choke with a major spike at 20 seconds. The RTX 4090 performs similarly to the XTX.
Ray Tracing Benchmarks
The standings don’t change much with ray-tracing switched on. Forza Motorsport is well-optimized for both AMD and NVIDIA GPUs.
Surprisingly, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX retains the frametime crown with ray-tracing switched on. Even the RX 7900 XT offers a smoother experience than the RTX 4090. The RX 7700 XT continues to be worse off than the RTX 4060 Ti.
At 1080p, the GeForce RTX 4090 is the fastest card, followed by the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX and the 7900 XT. The GeForce RTX 4070 comes in third, followed by the RTX 4060 Ti and finally, the RX 7700 XT.
At 1440p, the RX 7700 XT beats the RTX 4060 Ti in terms of average as well as frametimes. The rest of the GPUs perform as before.
At 4K, unsurprisingly, the RTX 4090 is the fastest GPU, averaging 85.6 FPS, followed by the RX 7900 XTX and 7900 XT with 59 FPS and 46 FPS, respectively.
The Radeon RX 7900 XTX is smoother than the RTX 4090 even at 4K (ray-tracing set to ultra). The RX 7900 XT runs into some kind of bandwidth, spiking every now and then, much like at 4K Ultra.
