Immortals of Aveum, the first major title to leverage the Unreal 5 engine, has made a rather disappointing debut. After an over-the-top specs sheet, Ascendant Studios released a technically decrepit mess that can’t even hit 60 FPS on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 at 4K Ultra. Even the $1,599 RTX 4090 24GB can’t hit 45 FPS, coming in just ahead of the much more affordable Radeon RX 7900 XTX ($959).
Keep in mind that TechPowerUp tested the game without DLSS or FSR. DLSS is supported but broken, leading to a ton of ghosting and artifacts. It’s worth noting that the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is over 10% faster than its GeForce rival, the RTX 4080, across all resolutions. Similarly, the RX 7900 XT beats the RTX 4070 Ti by over 20% at 4K. Moreover, the RTX 3090 Ti also beats the latter at higher resolutions.
Even previous-gen Radeon cards are faster than comparable GeForce cards. The RX 6800 XT edges past the RTX 4070, while the 6800 overcomes the RTX 4060 Ti and the 3080. Further down the chart, the Radeon RX 7600 performs better than the RTX 4060 and the 4060 Ti, and so does the Arc A770 16GB.
At 1080p, the Radeon RX 6800 16GB or the GeForce RTX 4070 12GB is the bare minimum required for 60 FPS. Quad-HD or 1440p requires a Radeon RX 7900 XT or a GeForce RTX 4080. 4K is unplayable without DLSS 2 or FSR. The RTX 4090 is the fastest, with an average of 44 FPS, followed by the RX 7900 XTX with 41 FPS.
