Retailers like Newegg have stopped accepting refunds for multiple graphics cards, including NVIDIA’s newly launched GeForce RTX 4080. As pointed out by Moore’s Law is Dead, refunds for graphics cards have been curtailed to deter scapers who purchased their GPUs at launch. As eBay gets bogged down by overpriced listings, Newegg has blocked refunds to prevent scalpers from returning their units.
From what I gathered, both AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards are affected. You can still get a replacement without swapping if you end up with a faulty/defective part.
It’s worth noting that Amazon still accepts returns for refunds: “You may return any new computer purchased from Amazon.com that is “dead on arrival,” arrives in damaged condition, or is still in unopened boxes, for a full refund within 30 days of purchase”.
