NVIDIA has shared an official performance hierarchy of its Ampere and Turing graphics cards. These include the GTX 16, RTX 20, and the RTX 30 series GPUs. Unsurprisingly, the RTX 2080 Ti is the only Turing card comparable to the higher-end Ampere parts. The RTX 2080, 2080 Super, and the RTX 2070 sit above the RTX 3060 in terms of performance, but a notch below the 3060 Ti.
The position of the RTX 3050 8GB (128-bit) is essentially NVIDIA confirming something we already knew about the GPU. The budget Ampere card is the slowest RTX graphics card, slower than even the RTX 2060 6GB, and just inches above the GTX 1660 Ti. Still, it is a much better option than AMD’s Radeon RX 6500 XT which has a paltry 64-bit bus and a 4GB memory buffer which renders it useless in a ton of modern games.
