NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW cloud streaming service is coming to the Steam Deck and virtual/mixed reality headsets. Valve’s bestselling handheld, the Steam Deck will soon be getting a native GeForce NOW app, bringing thousands of ray and path traced titles to the device. In similar fashion, the game streaming service is also headed to the Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest 3, and Pico virtual and mixed-reality devices later this year. Lastly, GeForce NOW is launching in India, thanks to the first RTX-powered data center in the country.
Steam Deck Gets GeForce NOW
The Steam Deck will support the latest games at 4K 60 FPS using the GeForce NOW app with HDR and ray-tracing when connected to a TV. The data center hosting the stream will be powered by GeForce RTX 4080 GPUs, featuring DLSS 3 frame generation and Reflex for top-notch performance.
Users will require a GeForce NOW Ultimate membership to leverage these features, allowing for 1440p 120 FPS or 4K 60 FPS with HDR when connected to an external TV. The app is slated to launch on the Steam Deck later this year.
GeForce NOW for VR and AR
GeForce NOW is also coming to the Apple Vision Pro and the Meta Quest 3, allowing owners access to a massive library of games. The games will be available for streaming through the play.geforcenow.com website via the browser. It is expected to start rolling out later this month.
GeForce NOW will support gamepad-compatible titles on these virtual reality headsets at pixel-rich resolutions and high framerates. Of course, you’ll need a GeForce NOW Ultimate and Performance membership to attain decent figures in high-end games via DLSS and frame generation.
GFN in India and Latin America
The first GeForce RTX 4080-powered data center will launch in India in the first half of this year. This follows the launch of GeForce NOW in Japan last year, as well as in Colombia and Chile, to be operated by GeForce NOW Alliance partner Digevo.
GeForce RTX-powered gaming in the rapidly growing Indian gaming market will provide the ability to stream AAA games without the latest hardware. Gamers in the region can look forward to the launch of Ultimate memberships, along with all the new games and technological advancements announced at CES.
