NVIDIA’s RTX 40 “Super” Refresh is allegedly on track for a (very) early 2024 launch. This latest tidbit comes from @kopite7kimi on X. According to the well-reputed tipster, three “RTX 40 Super” GPUs will complement the RTX 4070, 4070 Ti, and 4080. The naming is subject to change, but the RTX 4080 Super will be a minor to moderate upgrade over the RTX 4080 with slightly higher cores and (maybe) faster memory.
The RTX 4070 Ti Super (or RTX 4070 Ti v2?) will switch from the AD104 to the larger AD103 (or perhaps even the AD102). A healthy shader count upgrade from 7,680 to 8,448 cores is expected. You can also count on faster memory and a wider bus. The L2 cache should stay unchanged at 48MB.
The GeForce RTX 4070 Super will be the most important of the three, challenging AMD’s Radeon RX 7800 XT. A lofty upgrade over the stock 4070, it’ll pack 7,168 shaders (up from 5,888), a fatter L2 cache (36MB->48MB), and potentially, a wider bus, though I’m not sure if it’ll happen as we’re looking at a low-res GPU.
A CES 2024 launch for the RTX 40 “Super” lineup would give them plenty of time to capitalize on the market before the next-gen RTX 5090/5080 launch. We expect the RTX 50 series “Blackwell” family to land towards the end of the third quarter of 2024, giving the Supers up to 9 months of free reign.
