ASUS has launched the water-cooled GeForce RTX 4090 Matrix in China. For a whopping $8,000 or 59,999 yuan. That is nearly thrice as much as the recommended retail price of $3,155 or 23,000 yuan. Featuring a water block connected to a 360mm radiator, the GeForce RTX 4090 Matrix should be one of the fastest 4090s. It boasts a peak boost clock of 2,700MHz, up from 2,520MHz on the Founders Edition. I reckon you should be able to push this monster even further.
A while back, a new frequency record of over 4GHz was set using the RTX 4090 Matrix, the highest for any graphics card. ASUS’ over-engineered Matrix variant is yet to launch in the Western markets, but when it does, expect a hefty markup.
The latest US sanctions on China included the GeForce RTX 4090, the fastest consumer GPU, also capable of mild AI and network training. Initially, it was thought that NVIDIA had worked out a compromise with the US government, but I guess not. NVIDIA’s China AIBs have been stockpiling the AD102 to maximize profits on the final round of sales in the country.
The sanctions are set to come into effect from the 17th of November. The GeForce RTX 4090 is one of NVIDIA’s bestselling GPUs, with fat revenue margins. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a drop in the chipmaker’s gaming revenue this quarter.
