Silent Hill 2 PC Requirements: RTX 2080 for 1080p 60 FPS with Medium Settings

The PC system requirements for Silent Hill 2 have been unveiled. The well-known horror game from Capcom is set to land on PC this fall, enhanced with cutting-edge visual upgrades, including ray-tracing, global illumination, and more. The developer has shared the system requirements for the remake, and they’re a smidge higher than we expected.

The specifications include the hardware recommendations for 1080p 30 FPS and 1080p 60 FPS using the Medium Quality graphics preset. The Minimum Specs pertain to the required system resources at 1080p Low or Medium, while the Recommended Specs indicate the hardware needed for 1080p 60 FPS using the High graphics preset.

PC System Requirements for 1080p 30 FPS with Low/Medium Settings:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 | AMD Ryzen 3 3300X.
  • Memory: 12GB.
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700 | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080.
  • API: DirectX 12.
  • Storage: 50GB.

PC System Requirements for 1080p 60 FPS with Medium Settings:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K | AMD Ryzen 5 3600.
  • Memory: 16GB.
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080
  • API: DirectX 12.
  • Storage: 50GB.

As you can see, the CPU requirements are quite modest, unlike their GPU counterpart. You need a Core i5-8400 for Low to Medium settings at 30 FPS, which scales to a Core i7-8700K for High Settings at 60 FPS. On the GPU side, a GeForce GTX 1080 or a Radeon RX 5700 is needed for 1080p 30 FPS at Low to Medium. For 1080p 60 FPS at High, you’ll need an RTX 2080 or a Radeon RX 6800 XT, AMD’s previous-gen second fastest GPU. By these numbers, 4K native will be impossible using even the fastest graphics cards. Luckily, FSR and DLSS will be available from Day 0.
