Upcoming Intel Arc Driver to Boost Gaming Performance by up to 12% on Linux

An upcoming Intel Arc graphics driver is being prepared for Linux gamers which should improve performance by up to 12%. The Intel Mesa Vulkan driver is set to get the I915_FORMAT_MOD_4_TILED_DG2_RC_CCS modifier in the coming weeks. This optimization boosts gaming performance by up to 12.78% in Strange Brigade when using an Arc A770.

Several other titles also get a nominal uplift in performance when using the Vulkan API. This merge request is currently being reviewed and should be passed soon. This isn’t the first such update. Last week, another Intel Mesa driver improved gaming performance by 10% on Arc A750/A770.
