Intel Core Ultra 9 285K/15900K to Run Hotter than the 14900K/13900K: Higher Max Current

Intel’s next-gen Arrow Lake-S processors will launch for desktops and DIY enthusiasts later this year. The specifications are out in the open, and we’ve also reported on leaked ES benchmarks. Jaykihn has shared the electrical and thermal specifications of the 15th Gen/Core Ultra 200 series, and it looks like Arrow Lake-S will have higher electrical and thermal parameters than preceding Raptor Lake lineups. The Core Ultra 285K/15900K is set to have an IccMAX (peak current limit) of 347A, up from 307A on the 13900K/14900K.

The Core Ultra 7 265K/15700K and the Core Ultra 9 285K/15900K will have an IccMAX (peak current) of 347A, while the 145K/15600K will top out at 242A. The locked (non-K) variants, including the Core Ultra 9 275 and the Ultra 7 255 will have an IccMAX rating of 294A, while the Core Ultra 5 240 will come with a 188A upper limit.

The Arrow Lake-S desktop flagship is rumored to have a peak P-core boost clock of 5.7 GHz (5.4 GHz all-core) and an E-core boost of 4.7 GHz. The ring interconnect will allegedly run at 4.6 GHz. The P and E-core layout has supposedly been modified, with a cluster of E-cores between P-core columns.

The 13th/14th Gen Raptor Lake “Extreme” power profiles have a hard cap of 400A, but as reported earlier, they may be unstable using it. The base (PL1) and boost (PL2) power limits for Arrow Lake should be similar to its predecessor at 125W and 253W/188W, respectively.

Intel plans to launch another Raptor Lake Refresh, codenamed Bartlett Lake through 2025. Higher-end P-core-only variants with 12 P-cores (Core 9), 10 P-cores (Core 7), and 8 P-cores (Core 5) are scheduled for late 2025. Hybrid variants with similar specifications as the Core i9-14900K/13900K, 14600K, and 14400 will land in Jan 2025. Core 3 SKUs with quad and dual-core configurations are also on the horizon.
