The GeForce RTX 4070 is NVIDIA’s most popular 40-series card, often topping sales and beating its cheaper Radeon rivals. The RTX 4070 Ti is relatively less favored but sells better than the RTX 4080. It was launched a year ago on the 5th of January at an MSRP of $799. It’s the same as the previously “unlaunched” RTX 4080 12GB. The RTX 4070 was released on the 13th of April at an MSRP of $599.

The GeForce RTX 4070 and 4070 Ti both leverage the AD104 GPU. The latter uses the fully enabled die, while the former cuts it down by 20-25%. The memory and bus are the same, at 12GB GDDR6X and 192-bit, and the primary difference boils down to the shader configuration. The RTX 4070 Ti packs 7,680 cores, up from 5,888 on the 4070. The clocks are also higher on the Ti, boosting to 2,610MHz, up from 2,475MHz on the base 4070.
The RTX 4070 Ti is backed by 48MB of L2 cache, while the 4070 features a 36MB pool. Overall, you’re getting 23% more shaders, 25% more cache, and 20% more ROPs (Rasterizers) with the $799 Ti card. With the upcoming release of the RTX 4070 Super and 4070 Ti Super, the 4070 is slated to get a price cut (to $549?) while the 4070 Ti will be discontinued.
